With a deep passion for education and over sixteen years of experience in the medical revenue cycle, Shamira Ervin has dedicated her career to empowering professionals in the field of medical coding.

Professional Journey
​After establishing Guru of Coding LLC in 2019, Shamira has transformed countless careers through her exceptional teaching methods and comprehensive understanding of medical coding. Her impressive credentials include certifications as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Outpatient Coder (COC), Certified Risk Adjustment Coder (CRC), Certified Documentation Expert Outpatient (CDEO), Certified Professional Medical Auditor (CPMA), and Certified Professional Biller (CPB).

As an AAPC-Approved Instructor, Shamira has guided professionals at every stage of their coding journey, combining technical expertise with a natural talent for making complex concepts accessible. Her leadership in the industry was recognized when she served as Vice President of the Stockbridge Georgia chapter of the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) in both 2021 and 2024.

Personal Background
​Originally from the vibrant city of New Orleans, Louisiana, Shamira has called Atlanta home for the past two decades. She is the proud mother of three sons who inspire her dedication to creating opportunities through education.
